Gidon, who is still thin after an unsuccessful surgery to treat his cancer a year ago, places his plate in the middle of the table. The candles appear to be burning down. Others join them, including the camera.
Friday morning. Mark speaks of his fear that his father will leave and never come back. He worries about his mother, who has remarried. He is worried about their feelings about the new husband. He wishes he was taller, and would be having a better birthday if he was.
Now he's on a roll, telling each member of the family about his friends and the ones he loves, one by one. Some of the stories are funny and some are sad, and he always ends on a positive note. He knows his story is a long one, as he counts the years of his life on his fingers.
