By default, all characters start with ten slots, which is more than enough capacity. Creating a new character is as easy as clicking the character select button, and then choosing which class you want to play, selecting either a hero or paladin.
Over the course of the game, you'll occasionally accrue some items; Many of which will be high level, but which you'll have to spend points to upgrade. You'll have to sacrifice some of your character's former, low level equipment to raise your level. Your saves, as well as your gold stash, will be in your castle, located in the middle of town. You'll click through a stone carver and a workbench to upgrade your armor, eventually going past the +10 slot; you use your slots by typing out the amount you want to add. You can add +5, +10, +15, +20, +25, and +30 slots. You can also add better helmets, shields, boots, rings, amulets, and many other items.
Each item, no matter how well-equipped, has a certain amount of health and defense. For example, the set of armor you have may be able to withstand the damage dealt by the enemies, but the armor you're wearing may not be able to withstand the tenacity of a particular monster. If we hit 100 damage in a single hit with an enemy, then it's going to take the full 100 to get us off. It's not a matter of who hits harder, but that we're able to damage the enemy to the point that we die. What you wear matters, in a lot of ways. d2c66b5586
